Walking Down Washington
Walking down Washington
Disjointed Conversation
No monuments or buildings or history; just:
Have you seen Did you know
One time I I saw a My uncle
One of my friends You won’t believe
No wait
The numbers and letters and jargon
Mean importance, not inscriptions on stones
They’ve been here forever and will be here forever
We are fleeting and therefore exclusive and therefore amazing
Who is it more awesome to be?
A statue, monument, memorial, or me?

amazing question. my interpretation: what happens in this moment won't always be recognized yet holds great value and importance. change holds more significance at times than a rememberance of change. we are the change and the motion that people want to mark as history to be remembered. there are no marks on history without the change. it is more awesome to be motion, the cause, to hold the memory instead of read about it. i've always loved history and had a deep appreciation for it, but this begs for a new view, but not conflicting. i'd really love to read your explanation of this as i'm not sure i hit it on the nail. what is the significance of "No wait" ? is it part of the first half or transitional? you should get a deviantart account.
thank you for offering your interpretation! i'd like to explain my poem to you, but i don't want to post it, so please e-mail me at
